Profano e Sacro, das neue Album des jungen belgischen Kontratenors Dominique Corbiau, nimmt Sie mit auf eine Reise in die Welt der Musik des italienischen Barockkomponisten Alessandro Scarlatti (1660-1725). Die ersten neun Stücke des mit Bedacht zusammengestellten Programms von Profano e Sacro geben eine Überblick über bislang nur wenig bekannte Werke Scarlattis wie zum Beispiel Gli equivoci nel Sembiante, Il Ciro, L'Amor tiranno e volubile, Griselda, La Giuditta, Il Primo Omicidio, La Vergine Addolorata und Venere, Amore e Ragione.
Das Album präsentiert drei zentrale Aspekte der Vokalmusik Alessandro Scarlattis: Während die Oper für das Theater und das Oratorium für die Kirche bestimmt waren, kam die Serenata – eine Art Miniaturoper – anlässlich von großen Festen in Palästen zur Aufführung.
Ingesamt liegen hier vier Overtüren und zwanzig abwechsungsreiche, feine Arien mit einfachen, ansprechenden Melodien vor.
Dank Dominique Corbiaus sinnlicher Stimme und der mannigfaltigen Talente des La Cetra d’Orfeo Ensembles unter der einfallsreichen Leitung von Michel Keustermans wird Profano e Sacro für viele eine doppelte Entdeckung sein: die eines jungen Sängers mit wachsendem Ruf und die eines faszinierenden, aber leider viel zu selten aufgeführten Werkes.
