Tessa Dare ist halbtags Buchhändlerin und ganztags Mutter. Wenn sie sich nicht um ihre Kinder oder ihre Bücher kümmert, schreibt sie Romane. Als Kind ist sie ständig umgezogen und hat schnell gelernt: Egal wie oft sie den Wohnort wechselt, eine bestimmte Sorte von Freunden bleibt ihr immer: die Helden aus den Romanen, die sie gelesen hat. Aus diesem Grund entschied sie eines Tages, sich selbst ihre eigenen Freunde zu schaffen und Romane zu schreiben. Sie lebt zur Zeit mit ihrem Mann, ihren zwei Kindern und ihrem Hund in Kalifornien.
