Biografie
Roland Smith wurde 1951 in Portland, USA geboren. Er studierte Englisch und wollte eigentlich schon immer Schriftsteller werden. Bei einem Nebenjob im Zoo stellte er aber erstmal ganz andere Fähigkeiten unter Beweis, als es ihm gelang zwei entflohene Agutis (das sind südamerikanische Nagetiere) wieder einzufangen. Wenig später hinderte er auch noch einen Hirtenmaina an der Flucht (das ist ein Vogel aus der Familie der Stare). Daraufhin wurde er fest eingestellt und arbeitete über 20 Jahre lang in verschiedenen Zoos, ehe er sich ganz dem Schreiben zuwandte. Roland Smith lebt mit seiner Frau in der Nähe von Portland.
