Issac's letters are a comfort, but she worries all the same. Walsall Arboretum is transformed into a vegetable garden: The land girls grow potatoes and vegetables for locals. All the family help out when it comes to harvest time. At a night out in Bloxwich, at the dance Francesca gets extra friendly with Bobby while Molly chats to Sid the Saddler, a mate of Bobby's. On her way home, she has the worst moment of her life. Now she has more secrets to keep. Her friend Aggie on the canal barge comes to the rescue with herbal tea, tarot reading and plenty of friendly advice. After news of Issac being burned and gassed, Molly wonders if things will ever be the same again. Most of all, she wants him back home.
