John Hersey, geboren 1914 in Tientsin (China), ist ein amerikanischer Schriftsteller. Er arbeitete als Sekretär in St. Lewis, als Journalist und als Kriegskorrespondent in Italien, Polen, der UdSSR und Japan. Er veröffentlichte bereits zahlreiche Dokumentarromane.
