Lately, all Calla wants is to disappear. Her parents disowned her at the beginning of spring break. Her girlfriend Mona thinks it's because they found out she's gay. But the truth is they found her Google searches: how do you know you're trans, am I nonbinary or a trans guy, how to tell your girlfriend you're trans, what to do if you're trans.

Then Calla and Mona stumble upon a mysterious house in the woods, where they meet five other teens. These teens have lived in the house for decades without ever aging. They call themselves by different words-inverts, degenerates, homosexuals-and come from all different time periods. Each of them found the Forever House when they most needed a safe place to hide from a world that didn't understand or accept them.

Calla thinks she might have finally found a place to belong. A place to be who she (they? he?) really is. But how long can you hide from time?
