Born in 1775, Jane Austen published her many novels anonymously. Her work was not widely read until the late nineteenth century, and her fame only continued to grow from there. Known for her wit and sharp insight into social conventions, her novels about love, relationships, and society grow more popular year after year. Marjolein Bastin wurde 1943 in Loenen geboren. Sobald sie als Kind Pinsel und Stift halten konnte, begann sie die Bäume, Blumen und Felder ihrer Umgebung in Bildern festzuhalten. Ab 1960 studierte sie fünf Jahre an der renommierten Kunstakademie in Arnheim. Schon dort fiel jedem ihre besondere Liebe zur Natur und die damit verbundene außergewöhnliche Detailgenauigkeit auf.§Nach dem Studium erschienen Marjolein Bastins Bilder regelmäßig in der bekannten niederländischen Frauenzeitschrift"Libelle". Im Jahr 1990 entdeckte die größte nordamerikanische Grußkartenfirma ihre Zeichnungen - damit begann ein beispielloser Siegeszug um die ganze Welt. Heute leben Marjolein Bastin und ihr Ehemann abwechselnd in Landhäusern in den Niederlanden und Missouri, USA und einem Haus auf den tropischen Cayman Inseln - für Marjolein bedeuten sie eine Fülle von unterschiedlichen Naturschauplätzen, die es festzuhalten gilt.
