Antonio Di Benedetto (1922-1986) gehört zu den bedeutendsten argentinischen Erzählern des 20. Jahrhunderts. Er wurde 1976 von der Militärjunta verhaftet und ohne Begründung ein Jahr lang gefangen gehalten. Danach lebte er lange im europäischen Exil und kehrte erst zwei Jahre vor seinem Tod nach Buenos Aires zurück
