Winner of the National Book Award, three National Book Critics Circle Awards, two PEN/Faulkner Awards, and the National Humanities Medal, he is the author of twelve novels that explored the drama of American life from the late-19th century to the 21st.
Biografie
E.L. Doctorow wurde am 6. Januar 1931 in New York City geboren und wuchs in der New Yorker Bronx auf. Seine Romane Ragtime, Billy Bathgate oder Der Marsch und Homer & Langley sind aus dem Kanon der amerikanischen Literatur nicht wegzudenken. Er erhielt für seine Bücher nahezu alle wichtigen Literaturpreise, darunter den PEN/Saul Bellow Award für sein Lebenswerk. Er verstarb am 21. Juli 2015 in New York.
