Es began alles im Jahr 2000, als sich der Gitarrist Sal Canzonieri von der Band Electric Frankenstein mit Victory Records zusammenschloss, um die größten Rock n' Roll-Compilationen aller Zeiten zu veröffentlichen: »A Fistful of Rock' Roll«. Die Reihe umfasste 13 Bände und enthält einige der größten Nachwuchsbands des Rock wie Electric Frankenstein, The Supersuckers, The Bellrays, The Hellacopters, Zeke, Turbonegro, Glucifer, Danko Jones, The Dwarves, The Donnas und viele andere.
Heute, etwas mehr als ein Jahrzehnt später, gibt es eine ganz neue Generation junger Bands, die auf dem aufgebaut haben, was die vorherigen Bands begonnen haben, und die den Punk Rock n' Roll lebendig und voller energiegeladener Action halten. Daher war eine zweite Serie notwendig, um dies zu dokumentieren: »A Fistful MORE of Rock n' Roll Vol. 3«
