Ab 1980 diente Chocolate Star als Forum für die Musik von Gary Davis aus Camden, New Yersey. Gary begann Chocolate Star mit seinem langjährigen Camden-Landsmann Dennis »DJ« Jones. Er arbeitete einige Jahre mit Peter Brown bei P & P Records und lernte Komposition und Arrangement bei dem Jazzgiganten Manny Albam. Sein größter Einfluss blieb stets sein Onkel, der berühmte Jazzorganist Richard »Groove« Holmes. Diese Anthology stellt die besten Songs von Gary Davis' vielfältigem Werk zusammen, darunter Disco, Funk, Hip Hop, Soul Songs und sogar eine Dosis Proto-House. Am bekanntesten ist der Song »Gotta Get Your Love«, den Kenny »Dope« Gonzales von Masters At Work (MAW) bereits für sein Kay Dee Label lizenzierte und bearbeitete.
