In den späten 70er Jahren blühte der melodische Hardrock mit Bands wie Foreigner, Journey und Styx auf und bahnte sich einen rechtschaffenen Weg zu Gold und Ruhm. Axe waren keine Ausnahme, eine von vielen Bands, die den kommerziellen Weg dieser Platin-Bahnbrecher nachahmten und das Beste aus dem florierenden Genre machen wollten. Das Label Curb / MCA sah Axe als melodische Konkurrenz zu den großen Acts der Zeit und brachte sie prompt nach Los Angeles, wo sie 1979 dies Album mit eindeutigem Melodic / Hard-Pomp-Rock schufen. Die Tracks 'Life's Just An Illusion', 'Forever', 'Back On The Streets', 'Doin' The Best That I Can' und das epische 'Battles' sind der Beweis dafür, dass Axe etwas ganz Besonderem auf der Spur waren.
