Nick Cave formed the bad Seeds following the end of his previous band Birthday Party. The Bad Seeds brought together former Birthday Party guitarist Mick Harvey (drums), ex-Magazine bassist Barry Adamson, and Einstürzende Neubauten guitarist Blixa Bargeld.

The Boatman’s Call

Whilst the beautifully angst-ridden Murder Ballads was focused on death and violence, the Boatmans call is a startlingly introspective album, with songs about love and religion. These are the lovesick vistas hinted at by From her To Eternity. It lacks the usual posturing displayed by Cave on his other releases and has been proclaimed by some as the masterpiece he had always promised to write. These are Cave’s most affecting songs; Into My Arms is a simple song about love with Caves vocal accompanied only by his own piano playing and Casey’s bass. Lime Tree Arbour has almost lounge feel with it’s gentle bass and Hammond organ accompanying Caves positively romantic lyrics and baritone voice.

Tolle Musik - schlechte Klangqualität (Vinyl)

Ich mag Nick Cave und habe einige Platten von Ihm. Die hat mir noch gefehlt und daher dieses Reissue auf Vinyl bestellt.

Die Musik… Nick Cave halt und Großartig. Das Innencover ist ein beschriftetes, ungefüttertes Pappinnencover, das man so eigentlich nicht will, weil es der Platte nicht gut tut. Bei so was tu ich dann ein Nagaoka Innencover in das mitgelieferte Innencover und dann passts. Bis hierhin alles gut. Nicht gut ist der Klang. Die Platte erfüllt wirklich jedes Vorurteil, das heute solchen Wiederveröffentlichungen (oft zu unrecht) entgegen gebracht wird. Der Klang ist dumpf und verhangen und vor allem viel zu tieftonlastig. Womit ich gar nicht mal den wirklichen Tief(st)ton meine, sondern eher den Oberbassbereich. Das wirkt auch bis in den Stimmbereich rein, wodurch Herrn Caves prägnante Stimme nicht mehr so gut rüber kommt, wie ich es von meinen anderen Nick Cave Platten kenne. So was wie Dynamic kommt auf der Platte auch nicht vor.

Die Pressqualität ist ok. Das Problem dürfte die Abmischung sein.

Genial !!

Sehr schönes Balladenalbum !!
Die Platte liegt plan auf dem Plattenteller auf.
Es gab bisher bei allen Nick Cave Album keine
Probleme mit Verformungen.

Musik Top-Pressung shock !!!

Musik schön-Pressung shocking
Über die Musik dieser Platte braucht man nicht viel sagen. Nach The Good Son und No more shall we part, für mich, dass dritt beste Album des Hr.Cave.
Aber die Pressung !!! ???

Die Platte hat Ränder, als sei sie mit einem Küchenmesser ausgeschnitten worden...sie ist nicht rund sondern total zerfranst!!

Ich habe noch nie eine derart üble Pressung in den Händen gehalten...!

Kann das nicht bestätigen, meine ist sehr gut, Klang hervorragend. Musste sie nur 3 mal waschen, um ihr das Knacksen auszutreiben.

Pressungen der Re-Releases sehr durchwachsen

Kann das bei Boatmans Call nicht bestätigen, meine Pressung sieht super aus und läuft super. Allerdings war meine erste No more shall we part vollkommen verklickst!
