Francis Ford Coppola’s Jugendgang Film von 1983, basierend auf dem Roman „Die Outsider“ von S. E. Hinton, ist versehen mit einer Starbesetzung, darunter Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, Emilio Estevez und Tom Cruise. Die üppige, epische und klassische Hollywood Komposition zu dem Film wurde von Coppola’s Vater Carmine, der auch die Melodien zu „Der Pate 1-3“ geschrieben hat und für „Der Pate 2“ einen Academy Award gewann, komponiert.
Diese überarbeitete (re-mastered) Veröffentlichung des Soundtracks beinhaltet bis dato unveröffentlichte Musik des Films, ganz besonders Stevie Wonders sanfte Ballade „Stay Gold“. Das Booklet beinhaltet eine Abhandlung über die Musik zum Film, basierend auf Interviews mit den Darstellern und Francis Ford Coppola.
