Wieder so eine schöne Compilation aus dem Hause Bob Stanley & Pete Wiggs (St. Etienne). Bands wie China Crisis, The Human League, Soft Cell, Orchestral Manouvres In The Dark, New Musik oder auch Simple Minds prägten zu Beginn der 1980er Jahre eine neue musikalische Ära in UK.
Die von Synthesizern dominierte, oftmals melancholische Pop-Musik bezog ihren Einfluss natürlich auch von Kraftwerk und den elektronischen Avantgardisten der 1970er Jahre. 20 Tracks aus dieser Zeit hält der von Stanley & Wiggs sorgfältig kuratierte Sampler bereit.
Er zitiert Bands und manchmal kurzlebige Pop-Duos die mit Korgis, Moogs und Roland-Synthis neue Klangwelten des Pop-Kosmos erforschten, und ganz nebenbei - zumindest für eine kurze Zeit - den britischen Pop dominierten.
