In den frühen sechziger Jahren waren die amerikanischen Pop-Charts und viele andere Hitlisten auf der ganzen Welt voll von rhythmischen und eingängigen Girl Group-Songs. Bald erreichten diese rekordverdächtige Verkaufszahlen. Es war ein überaus erfolgreiches Genre; die Plattenfirmen erkannten dies und reagierten entsprechend.
Ihren Produkten war die Aufmerksamkeit der jugendlichen Öffentlichkeit sicher und Produkte verkaufen sich wie von selbst. Die Singles der Girl Groups deckten die gesamte Bandbreite jugendlicher Emotionen ab: Angst, Aufregung, Sorge, Bewunderung, Eifersucht, Traurigkeit, Herzschmerz, unerwiderte Liebe und manchmal sogar sexuelle Lust.
Die Songs waren Ausdruck der Emotionen ihrer Zeit, präzise und auf den Punkt gebracht, von den Produzenten klug verpackt, um dauerhaft unvergesslich zu sein… bis heute und morgen!
