Dass der Siegeszug des »Country & Western« schon Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts begann, zeigt diese 10 CD-Box mit allen Songs, die es seit dem Erscheinen der C&W-Charts im Jahre 1944 bis zum Jahr 1962 auf deren Platz 1 geschafft haben. Die großen Stars dieser nach wie vor stilprägenden Epoche der amerikanischen Country-Musik sind bei dieser musikalischen Zeitreise mit ihren großen Hits verewigt, von Eddy Arnold bis Johnny Cash.
Man hört viele auch bei uns bekannte Titel aber auch einige, die erstaunlicherweise nicht im Gedächtnis geblieben sind. Interessant ist auch, dass man in den amerikanischen C&W-Charts auch Künstler finden konnte, die eigentlich eher zum Rock & Roll gehören, wie Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins oder Jerry Lee Lewis, oder sogar zum Jazz oder Rhythm & Blues, wie Nat »King« Cole oder Louis Jordan.
