Laut James Lavelle hat er mit seinen ersten drei Alben einen Zyklus geschlossen. “Where did the night fall” erscheint mir als Extrakt dieser Werke. Wirklich neu erfunden wurde hier nichts. Hätte Lavelle “Psyence fiction”-Genialität mehr Raum gelassen, wäre ein großartiges Album entstanden. Aber nach einer Dekade der Enttäuschungen bin ich auch mit diesem guten Album zufrieden."
