The Residents sind eine 1969 gegründete amerikanische Avantgarde-Band aus San Francisco. 1971 erfolgte der erste Auftritt, 1972 die Gründung eines eigenen Plattenlabels, Ralph Records. Markenzeichen der Band sind ihre eigenwilligen Kompositionen und die bizarre Interpretation von Coverversionen sowie die seit Jahrzehnten andauernde Anonymität der Mitglieder.
»Meet The Residents« ist das 1974 erschienene Albumdebüt, eine bizarre Melange aus Blues, Jazz, Rock und Klassik. Die grafische Gestaltung der Hülle ist eine dadaistische Persiflage auf das Album With The Beatles der Beatles. Die Doppel-CD enthält die Mono- und Stereo-Album-Mixe, die »Santa Dog«-EP aus dem Jahr 1972, Outtakes und alternative Versionen, die 1972 und 1973 entstanden sowie die bislang unbekannten »1-10 (With A Touch Of 11)«-Recordings.
Insgesamt 22 unveröffentlichte Tracks! Remastered von den Original-Tapes. Großartiges Booklet mit rarem oder bislang unbekanntem Fotomaterial.
