»RUM SODOMY & THE LASH«, produziert von Elvis Costello, war das zweite Studioalbum der in London ansässigen Irish-Folk-Punk-Band. Costello, der ursprünglich für die Singles engagiert wurde, verlängerte seinen Aufenthalt, um am gesamten Album mitzuwirken. Damals sagte er: »Ich sah meine Aufgabe darin, sie in ihrer verfallenen Pracht einzufangen, bevor ein professionellerer Produzent sie ruinierte.«
Diese 40-Jahre-Jubiläumsausgabe enthält auf CD und LP das Originalalbum sowie eine Bonus-Disc der legendären EP »POGUETRY IN MOTION« mit Tracks aus der BBC Janice Long-Session vom Juli 1985 sowie den B-Seiten der Original-Singles. Abgerundet wird die Bonus-CD durch seltene Live-Versionen von »A Pair Of Brown Eyes« und »Sally MacLennane«, aufgenommen im Dezember 1987 im Glasgow Barrowland, sowie einen Rough-Mix des Outtakes von »POGUETRY IN MOTION«, der Bandversion von »Do You Believe In Magic« von The Lovin' Spoonful.
