The Human League wurde 1977 in Sheffield gegründet und ist eine der bekanntesten englischen Synthie-Pop-Bands. Ursprünglich eine experimentelle elektronische Band, unterschrieb die Gruppe 1979 bei Virgin Records und erreichte 1981 mit ihrem dritten Album Dare einen großen kommerziellen Erfolg. Das Album enthielt vier Hitsingles, darunter den UK/US-Nummer-eins-Hit »Don't You Want Me«.
Unter der Leitung von Oakey entwickelten sich die Human League zu einer kommerziell erfolgreichen New-Pop-Band, zu deren Besetzung auch die Sängerinnen Joanne Catherall und Susan Ann Sulley gehörten.
Seit 1978 haben die Human League neun Studioalben, zwei Remix-Alben, ein Live-Album, sechs EPs, 30 Singles und mehrere Compilation-Alben veröffentlicht. Sie hatten fünf Alben und 15 Top-20-Singles und haben bis 2010 weltweit mehr als 20 Millionen Platten verkauft.
Dieses Set enthält ihre Alben aus ihrer Zeit bei Virgin Records und alle Platten kommen in farbigem Vinyl (von der Band ausgewählt) und in Tip-On-Hüllen, alle in einer stabilen Box mit einem Poster untergebracht.
