Das fünfte Album »Starfish« brachte der australischen Rockband The Church den kommerziellen Durchbruch. Veröffentlicht im Jahr 1988 beim Label Mushroom Records wurde es allein in den USA über 600.000 Mal verkauft. Mit seinem verträumten, atmosphärischen Post-Rock wurde die Single »Under the Milky Way« zum Hit.
Das Remastering für Intervention Records übernahm Ryan K. Smith von Sterling Sound. Die Doppel-LP mit 33 1 / 3 RPM wurde auf 180-Gramm-Vinyl gepresst, erscheint im Gatefoldcover und enthält gegenüber der Originalveröffentlichung mehrere Bonustracks.
