The Allman Brothers Band wurde 1969 mit den Gründungsmitgliedern Duane Allman, Jaimoe, Berry Oakley, Dickey Betts, Butch Trucks und Gregg Allman gegründet. Der allererste informelle Auftritt der Band war der Muddy Waters-Song »Trouble No More«, der kurz darauf zum ersten gemeinsamen Demo-Song wurde und der bis heute unveröffentlicht geblieben ist. The Allman Brothers Band sind als die Väter des Südstaaten-Rock-Sounds bekannt, für den später auch Acts wie Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top und The Marshal Tucker Band bekannt wurden. Das allerletzte Lied, das die Allman Brothers Band im Beacon Theatre aufführte, war ebendieses erste Lied, das sie zusammen jammten: »Trouble No More« und mit dem unser 61 Lieder umfassendes Boxset wunderbar abgeschlossen wird.
Das Boxset wurde von den Allman Brothers-Historikern und -Liebhabern Bill Levenson, John Lynskey und Kirk West produziert.
