Das erste Album mit neuem Namen der Band die bereits als Witch Hazel drei Alben veröffentlicht hat. Spellbook orientieren sich am Vintage Proto-Metal sowie Progressive Rock der 1970er Jahre mit Einflüssen von Bands wie Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, Blue Öyster Cult, Kiss oder Pentagram. Das an einen Horror-Film erinnernde Artwork stammt von Chad Keith, der hier Elemente aus den einzelnen Songs ins Cover einfließen ließ.
