Der große Blues-Musiker Sonny Boy Williamson war bis 1965 auf der Bühne und konnte so auch nach Europa kommen, um den britischen Blues-Boom zu beeinflussen.
Sonny Boy machte sich in Großbritannien zwischen 1963 und 1965 einen Namen und spielte in ihren frühesten Tagen live mit den Yardbirds und den Animals. Er hatte bereits, Dank einer Verbindung mit Chess Records, Legenden-Status.
Außerdem trug er dazu bei, die Karriere von Elmore James zu starten, der seine Karriere als Sonny Boys Sideman begann, bevor sein unverwechselbarer Slide-Gitarren-Stil ihm eine eigene Karriere verschaffte. Seine Aufnahmen werden so lange populär bleiben, wie der Blues gespielt wird.
