Am 13. Oktober 1986 veröffentlichten Saxon ihr achtes Studioalbum »Rock The Nations«. Aufgenommen wurde in den niederländischen Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum unter Regie von Gary Lyons. Biff Byford, der zufällig seine Karriere als singender Bassist begonnen hatte, spielte alle Bassspuren auf dem Album ein, jedoch wird Paul Johnson auf dem Album als Bassist gelistet der kurz vor dessen Veröffentlichung in die Band einstieg. Ein ungewöhnlicher, auf Rock The Nations vertretener Gast findet sich in Elton John, der Piano bei »Northern Lady« und »Party Til You Puke« spielt.
