1981 was a watershed year for Santana. With the release of their multi-format hit album Zebop!, Carlos Santana and The Santana Band catapulted onto the top ten, the first time in several years, and truly changed the course of their musical history for the next several decades. Thanks in part to the Russ Ballard (Argent) penned smash hit single Winning, the band not only maintained their solid following, but also brought in a whole new fan base, which has pledged loyalty to this legendary band since.
Following a similar formula as on their previous gold album Marathon, Zebop! featured even more hit oriented tracks like Cat Stevens' Changes and J. J. Cale's The Sensitive Kind. With the effervescent lead vocals of Alex Ligertwood, the power drumming of Graham Lear, together with the skillful instrumentation of the core band, all fronted by the legendary Carlos Santana, this album truly illustrated a band that hit its stride.
So now it is time to celebrate with us the 30th Anniversary of Zebop! by Santana. This new edition comes with wonderful new remastering from the original Columbia Records tapes, the original artwork elements, as well as some rare memorabilia from the original release not seen in years.
