Bekannt durch ihre Zeit als Sängerin bei Fairport Convention und weltweit respektiert als Robert Plants erste Alison Krauss (im Duett mit ihm auf Led Zeppelins The Battle Of Evermore), hinterließ Sandy Denny ein ein betörendes, sich ständig weiterentwickelndes Werk - Kate Bush erwähnte sie in einem Song, und Dennys Einfluss ist bei Generationen von Singer-Songwritern zu hören.
Vom David Bailey-Coverfoto an ist Sandy aus dem Jahr 1972 wohl das definitive Sandy Denny Album. Aufgenommen in John Woods Sound Techniques Studio und produziert von Trevor Lucas, enthält es Pete Kleinow von den Flying Burrito Brothers bereichert das Album um einige besondere Gäste »It'll Take A Long Time« mit seinem unverwechselbaren Pedal-Steel-Spiel, und New Orleans-Legende Allan Toussaint steuert zu »For Nobody To Hear« ein Bläserarrangement bei. Aber es ist Denny's Album. Oft ist es unmöglich, sich nicht von dieser wunderschönen, längst vergangenen und doch so lebensfrohen Stimme in den Bann ziehen zu lassen, besonders auf zwei ihrer besten Songs - »The Lady« und »Listen, Listen«. Seit einigen Jahren auf LP vergriffen, ist diese Wiederveröffentlichung eine getreue Nachbildung der Originalversion von Island Records UK-Veröffentlichung mit Klappcover und ist auf hochwertiges 180g-Vinyl gepresst.
