Die amerikanische Glam-Metal-Band Poison wurde mit ihrem höchst umstrittenen und meistverkauften Album »Open Up And Say...Ahh!« zur wichtigsten Partyband des Hair Metal. Glam Metal war zu dieser Zeit angesagt und Poison waren dank ihres Hits »Talk Dirty to Me« in aller Munde. Deshalb verschwendeten sie keine Zeit und nahmen den Nachfolger ihres Debütalbums »Look What the Cat Dragged In« auf.
Mit »Every Rose Has Its Thorn« landeten sie einen weiteren Nummer-eins-Hit und mit »Nothin' But a Good Time« einen Top-Ten-Hit, die beide Tag und Nacht von MTV gespielt wurden und die Fans dazu veranlassten, die Plattenläden zu stürmen.
