Das Album wurde während Harveys Reisen in den Kosovo, nach Afghanistan und Washington DC mit dem Fotografen und Filmemacher Seamus Murphy geschrieben und entstand dann in Sessions als Teil einer Kunstinstallation im Somerset House in London namens »Recording in Progress«. Die Sessions dauerten jeweils fünfundvierzig Minuten und wurden einen Monat lang gezeigt. Während dieser Zeit konnten die Zuschauer durch eine Einwegverglasung sehen, wie Harvey mit Flood und John Parish das Album aufnahm. »The Hope Six Demolition Project« erreichte bei seiner Veröffentlichung als erstes Album die Spitze der britischen Charts. Auch in den Jahresrückblicken von Mojo, Q, Uncut, Chicago Tribune, Under the Radar und vielen anderen war es ganz oben in den Charts.
Sammlung von zehn unveröffentlichten Demos, die für das neunte PJ Harvey-Studioalbum »The Hope Six Demolition Project« geschrieben wurden, darunter Demos von »The Wheel« und »The Community Of Hope«. Mit brandneuem Artwork, das auf einer Zeichnung von Polly Jean Harvey basiert, sowie bisher unveröffentlichten Fotos von Maria Mochnacz und Seamus Murphy. Das Artwork wird von Michelle Henning und Rob Crane betreut. Mastering durch Jason Mitchell bei Loud Mastering, unter der Leitung des langjährigen PJ Harvey-Produzenten John Parish.
