Blu-Ray Disc

The Blu-Ray was developed as a high-definition successor to the DVD and offers a significantly increased data rate and storage capacity compared to its predecessor. Blu-Rays can therefore store movies with significantly better resolution and offer enormously high picture quality on corresponding screens. Blu-Ray players are usually backward compatible with DVDs, so that they can also be played.

Die sechste Pink-Floyd-Box: zwei Wochen in Frankreich

Bereits Ende letzten Jahres warfen Pink Floyd mit ihrer gigantischen »The Early Years«-Box einen Blick zurück auf ihre Anfangsjahre. 2017 präsentieren die Rocklegenden jetzt eine Reihe von sechs Einzelboxen, die die verschiedenen Zeitabschnitte gesondert betrachten.

Die sechste Zusammenstellung der Serie ist »Obfusc / ation«. Sie betrachtet das Jahr 1972, in dem sich Pink Floyd nach Hérouville nördlich von Paris begaben, um in den dortigen Strawberry-Studios, die sich im Chateau der Stadt befanden, Aufnahmen zu machen. In bemerkenswerten zwei Wochen schrieben sie »Obscured By Clouds« und nahmen eines ihrer konsequentesten Alben auf, das den Soundtrack zu Barbet Schroeders »La Vallée« lieferte.

1972 erschien außerdem »Pink Floyd Live At Pompeji«, ein unter der Regie von Adrian Maben gedrehter Film, der die Band bei einer Performance ohne Publikum im historischen römischen Amphitheater in Pompeji zeigt. Das Videomaterial schließt die Performance aus dem Film »Live At Pompeji« ein und präsentiert den Sound im neuen 5.1-Audio-Mix. Es enthält zudem Material aus dem damaligen französischen Fernsehen sowie Auftritte im Brighton Dome im Juni 1972 und weitere Auftritte mit der Roland Petit Ballett Company.
