»Disco 5« ist der neueste Teil der 1986 begonnenen »Disco«-Albumreihe der Pet Shop Boys.

Die 12-Track-Sammlung enthält zehn aktuelle Remixe der Pet Shop Boys von Songs von Künstlern wie Noel Gallaghers »High Flying Birds«, Primal Scream, Paul Weller, Tina Turner, Claptone, Wolfgang Tillmans und anderen sowie einen Remix ihres eigenen Tracks »Dreamland« mit Olly Alexander. Das von PSB produzierte »I'm in Love With a German Film Star« von Sam Taylor-Johnson erschien ursprünglich 2008 bei Kompakt, während Carroll Thompsons »Let the Music Play« Anfang der 90er-Jahre von PSB arrangiert und produziert wurde und im Soundtrack des Erfolgsfilms »The Crying Game« enthalten war. Das Album enthält außerdem den Remix des Duos von Sleaford Mods' Cover des legendären Pet Shop Boys-Songs »West End Girls« und die PSB/Soft Cell-Kollaboration »Purple Zone«.
