Alle Songs des mit dem Academy Award ausgezeichneten Films werden zum ersten Mal auf LP und CD erhältlich sein. Das LP-Format kommt mit einer auf schwarzem Vinyl gepressten Platte in einer Standard-Hülle mit bedruckter Innenhülle und das CD-Format mit einem 16-seitigen Booklet, wobei beide Produkte seltene Fotos von Buddy Holly enthalten.
Die Deluxe Edition des Soundtracks umfasst insgesamt 22 Tracks, darunter 11 Tracks, die nicht auf dem ursprünglichen Soundtrack veröffentlicht wurden. Zu den zusätzlichen Liedern gehören mehrere Darbietungen aus dem Film, wie z.B. »That'll Be the Day«, »Mockingbird Hill« und »Tennessee Waltz« von Gary Busey (als Buddy Holly), »Chantilly Lace« von Gailard Sartain (als Big Bopper) und »You Send Me« von Paul Mooney (als Sam Cooke).
