Nach fünf Jahrzehnten im Musikgeschäft hat der legendäre US-Sänger und -Songwriter Neil Diamond endlich das "Album seiner Träume" aufgenommen:
"Dreams" enthält seine 15 Lieblingssongs, die aus der Feder anderer Komponisten stammen. "Du weißt nie, wie lange du noch hast und viele dieser Songs warten schon seit vierzig Jahren darauf, dass ich sie aufnehme", erklärte Diamond, der in Kürze siebzig Jahre alt wird. Fällt der Name Neil Diamond, so denkt man zunächst an seine großartigen Fähigkeiten als Songwriter und als Performer den größten Bühnen der Welt. Mit "Dreams" konzentrierte sich der New Yorker diesmal ganz auf seine Rolle als Sänger.
Das Album enthält Musik, die Diamond in seiner Jugend in Brooklyn entscheidend prägte. Angefangen mit "Let It Be Me", das 1960 in der Version der Everly Bros. populär wurde, unternimmt der Hörer unter Diamonds Leitung eine musikalische Zeitreise, auf der man auf eine wunderschöne Interpretation der Beatles-Evergreens "Blackbird" und "Yesterday" stößt, kommt im weiteren Verlauf in den Genuss des unterschätzten Leon Russell-Klassikers "A Song For You", gefolgt von Gilbert O'Sullivans "Alone Again (Naturally)" und Bill Withers "Ain't No Sunshine".
Acclaimed songwriter and show-stopping performer, Neil Diamond, is out to prove his skill as a song interpreter on his new album. Dreams will feature the nearly 70-year-old star singing some of his favorite songs from the ’60s and ’70s. “You never know how long you’ve got and a lot of these songs have been waiting for me to record them for 40 years,” Diamond said in a press release.
