Routine und Spaß
Die Chemie stimmt einfach bei Mr. Big – kein Wunder, musizieren die US-Hardrocker nun doch schon seit fast 30 Jahren in Originalbesetzung: Eric Martin (Gesang), Paul Gilbert (Gitarre), Billy Sheehan (Bass) und Pat Torpey (Schlagzeug).Das gilt auch für ihr neues, mittlerweile zehntes Album »Defying Gravity«. Einzige Ausnahme: Schlagzeuger Matt Starr, der die Band seit der Parkinson-Diagnose Torpeys live unterstützt, war nun auch im Studio mit von der Partie.
Insgesamt elf neue Songs haben Mr. Big für »Defying Gravity« aufgenommen, und zwar gemeinsam und überwiegend live innerhalb von nur sechs Tagen.
Die Produktion der Platte übernahm mit Kevin Elson ein alter Bekannter. Er hat in der Vergangenheit schon mehrfach mit Mr. Big zusammengearbeitet.
Neben der Standard-CD gibt es »Defying Gravity« auch als Deluxe-Edition. Diese umfasst neben dem Album eine DVD mit Musikvideos und einem Making-of der Platte.
Ein eingespieltes Team: Auf »Defying Gravity« merkt man Mr. Big nicht nur ihre Routine, sondern auch den gemeinsamen Spaß im Studio an.
