»Iron Fist« hatte es bei Erscheinen als Nachfolger der legendären Motörhead Alben »Overkill«, »Bomber« und natürlich »Ace Of Spades« nicht leicht.
Die allgemeine Meinung zum fünften Album der Band, dem letzten in der klassischen Besetzung aus Lemmy Kilmister, Fast Eddie Clarke und Phil Taylor, hat sich erst im Laufe der Jahre gewandelt. Heute zweifelt niemand mehr am Klassiker-Status von »Iron Fist«.
Zum 40. Geburtstag erscheint das Album in einer frisch gemasterten Version, als Deluxe Media Book mit 2 CDs, bzw. 3 LPs, inkl. eines bisher unveröffentlichten Konzert-Mitschnitts aus Glasgow von 1982.

»Iron Fist« zeigt Motörhead in einer entscheidenden Phase, als sie sich im Tornado des Erfolgs gefangen sahen und in wahrer Motörhead-Manier mit einer solchen Geschwindigkeit in ihre nächste Phase stürzten, dass es Logik und Vernunft übertraf und zum letzten Kamikaze-Joyride dieses Trios wurde.
Vierzig Jahre später klingt »Iron Fist« wie Motörhead ohne Handschuhe und Sicherheitsgurte. 1982 war der Punk vorbei, die neue Welle des Heavy Metal klang quietschig und klischeehaft neben seinen schmuddeligen Paten, und trotzdem behielten Motörhead die Fähigkeit über alles zu lachen, auch über sich selbst, während sie blitzschnell auf alle Sinne losgingen und alles bis zur Überlastung aufdrehten.
»Iron Fist« erscheint anlässlich des 40. Jubiläums mit einem brandneuen Remaster, das von den originalen Bändern erstellt wurde. Das Album ist erhältlich als 20-seitiges 3LP-Bookpack und als 24-seitiges Deluxe-Mediabook mit 2 CDs. Beide Formate enthalten eine komplette Live-Show aus dem Glasgow Apollo, die zum ersten Mal veröffentlicht wurde, sowie bisher unveröffentlichte Demos.
