Nach dem Ausstieg von Sänger David Vincent besannen sich Morbid Angel auf ihre alten Stärken, holten mit Steve Tacker einen mehr als wertvollen Ersatzmann für Bass & Gesang und spielten als Trio-Formation mit »Formulas Fatal To The Flesh« ein Album ein, das wie eine perfekte Symbiose aus den erfolgreichen Vorgängern »Altars Of Madness« und »Blessed Are The Sick« klingt. Will heißen, dass sich Morbid Angel wieder auf ihre Roots besinnen, herrlich präzises Stakkato Drumming, sauber gespielt und ziemlich abgedrehte Soli, viele Tempo-Wechsel und coole Breaks. Das Album galt zum Zeitpunkt der Veröffentlichung (Februar 1998) als 1. wegweisende Brutal Death-Metal-Produktion.
