Die britische Rock'n'Roll-Ikone Marianne Faithfull erkundet auf diesem Album die dunkle Seite des Vorkriegs-Berlins. Zu den Höhepunkten gehören Faithfulls Interpretationen von legendären Hits wie "Mack the Knife", "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", "Alabama Song" und Marlene Dietrichs "Falling In Love Again".
"20th Century Blues" widmet sich der Musik von Komponisten und Textern wie Kurt Weill, Bertolt Brecht, Noel Coward und Harry Nilsson und konzentriert sich auf die Musik von Kurt Weill und Bertolt Brecht sowie Noël Coward, 1998 gefolgt von einer Aufnahme von "The Seven Deadly Sins" mit dem Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien unter der Leitung von Dennis Russell Davies.
