Mit ihren an House-Musik angelehnten Popsongs war die Formation in den 1990er Jahren vor allem in ihrer Heimat GB erfolgreich und konnte bis heute 11 Millonen Tonträger verkaufen - dazu zwei Brit-Awards und ein Mercury Prize. Mit dem Clubhit ›How Can I Love You More‹ begann die Karriere von M-People. Die Nummer stieg im Oktober 1991 in die UK-Charts und erreichte Platz 8.
1992 erschien das Debütalbum ›Northern Soul‹, das es auf Platz 26 der britischen Albumcharts schaffte. Die beiden folgenden Auskopplungen ›Colour My Life‹ und 'Someday' platzierten sich in den Top 40. Der vierte Hit ›Excited‹ war erst auf der 1992er Version des ›Northern Soul‹-Albums zu finden und mit # 29 die zunächst zweiterfolgreichste Single. Als Vorbote des zweiten Albums erschien 1993 die Single ›One Night In Heaven‹. In UK stand # 6 und mit # 15 auch erstmals die deutschen Singlecharts.
Auch die zweite Single ›Moving On Up‹ war ein weltweiter Erfolg. Es folgten noch die sehr erfolgreichen Alben ›Bizarre Fruit‹ und ›Fresco‹.
Die nun via Edsel erscheinende Box hält neben 9 CDs (natürlich mit allen vier Erfolgsalben + jeweils den Remixen und einer CD mit Frankie Knuckles & David Morales Mixen) noch zwei DVDs mit 24 Promo-Videos und 20 Love-Tracks bereit. Ein 48-Seiten-Booklet hält viele Fotos und umfangreiche Linernotes bereit. Für 90s Pop-Afficinados ein Muss!
