Lyn Collins erlangte in den 60er Jahren als Mitglied von James Browns legendärer Band Bekanntheit. Ihre Solokarriere begann 1971 und der große Durchbruch gelang ihr 1972 mit ihrer von Brown geschriebenen und produzierten Single »Think (About It)«. Das Debütalbum enthielt neben der Hitsingle auch Collins' Interpretationen von Bill Withers' »Ain't No Sunshine«, Bacharach und Davids »Reach Out For Me«.
