Zuletzt machte die heute 83-jährige Country-Legende 2004 auf sich aufmerksam, als sie mit Jack White zusammen arbeitete, um das hochgelobte Van Lear Rose Album aufzunehmen. Die 1932 als Loretta Webb in Butcher Hollow/Kentucky geborene Countrysängerin begann ihre musikalische Karriere 1962 in der Grand Old Opry und veröffentlichte seitdem mehr als 70 Alben. Sie landete allein 27 Nr. 1 Hits, sie erhielt so ziemlich alle wichtigen Awards im Country-Genre, ihr Leben wurde mit Sissy Spacek in der Hauptrolle verfilmt (»Coal Miner's Daughter«), und nicht nur Country-affine Künstler wie Steve Earle oder Lucinda Williams zählen sie zu ihren größten Vorbildern.
Auf Full Circle, ihrem ersten Album seit 2004, entführt Loretta Lynn noch einmal auf eine Reise durch ihre eigene Geschichte. Unterstützt wird sie dabei von der Creme de la Creme der Nashville-Szene (u. a. Randy Scruggs, Ronnie McCoury, Sam Bush), und bei zwei Songs wirken Willie Nelson und Elvis Costello mit. Produziert wurde das Album, das in Vorab-Reviews in Mojo und Uncut schon jetzt als die große Country-Überraschung des Jahres 2016 gefeiert wird, von Johnny-Cash-Sohn John Carter Cash und Loretta Lynns Tochter Patsy Lynn Russell.
