Ihre Stimme wird als eine Mischung aus Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash und Emmylou Harris beschrieben. Lindi Ortega schrieb ungefähr die Hälfte der zwölf Tracks allein und engagierte Co-Writer Aaron Raitiere, Bruce Wallace und John Paul White (The Civil Wars) für den Rest.
Das Ergebnis ist ein dreiteiliges Konzeptalbum, das Verlust, Seance, Auferstehung und Freiheit reflektiert.
