»Hans Zimmer & Friends: Diamond in the Desert« ist weit mehr als ein traditioneller Konzertfilm. In dem Film werden Hans Zimmers beliebteste und bekannteste Filmsoundtracks von ihm, seiner Band und einem Orchester an außergewöhnlichen Spielorten in atemberaubenden Szenen zum Leben erweckt: Von den Dünen der Arabischen Wüste bis zu den Höhen des Burj Al Arab, von der spektakulären Al Wasl Plaza-Kuppel in der Expo City bis zur ikonischen Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
Hans Zimmer und seine Mitmusiker und Mitmusikerinnen bieten dabei neue Live-Versionen von einigen seiner größten Hits dar, darunter Titel aus Dune, Gladiator, Interstellar, Der König der Löwen oder Inception. Die 18-köpfige Band umfasst neben Zimmer selbst Musical Director Nick Glennie-Smith (Keyboard/Klavier/Akkordeon), Lebo Morake (Gesang – Der König der Löwen), Judith Sephuma (Gesang), Pedro Eustache (Blasinstrumente), Lisa Gerrard (Gesang – Gladiator), Loire Cotler (Gesang – Dune), Juan Garcia-Herreros (E-Bass), Guthrie Govan (Gitarre), Aleksandra Šuklar (Percussion), Holly Madge Jaspal (Schlagzeug), Aicha Djidjelli (Schlagzeug), Steven Doar (Keyboard/Percussion), Tina Guo (Cello), Andy Pask (Bass/E-Bass), Rusanda Panfili (Violine), Leah Zeger (Violine/Gesang), Molly Rogers (Violine/Gesang) und Nile Marr (Gitarre).
Neben den musikalischen Highlights sind Interviews mit Billie Eilish, Sir Christopher Nolan, Denis Villeneuve, Finneas, Jerry Bruckheimer, Johnny Marr, Pharrell Williams, Tanya Lapointe, Timothée Chalamet und Zendaya enthalten.
