Meine erste Mule.
In allen Bereichen fünf Sterne.
Bin schwer angetan von von denn beiden Doppel Alben in der Box.
Nun ja is nicht eine richtige Box, aber egal.
Zweimal Black und Zweimal Rotes Vinyl.
Wertige Cover.
Warren Haynes... Gov't Mule in Topform.

Ganz großer Wurf

Da ist den Jungs um Warren Haynes ein ganz großer Wurf gelungen. Neuer Sound, weg vom Dauer-Gebluese. Für mich die beste Govt Mule CD seit High & Mighty. Auch die Idee mit den Gastsängern, mit denen genau die selben Stücke nochmals eingespielt wurden, ist super. Absolute Kaufempfehlung.

Und wieder ein kleines Meisterwerk......

Ein überdurchschnittliches Album einer grandiosen Band! So muß ich diese Rezension einleiten. Einst gegründet um ihrer Vorliebe zum rauhen Bluesrock zu frönen, haben sie sich doch mit jeder LP (oder von mir aus auch CD) weiterentwickelt und mit diesem Werk wieder einmal einen Höhepunkt erreicht, von dem andere Bands nur träumen können und sicher auch werden.
Ein Doppel-Album vollgepackt mit Titeln, die sich wie üblich bei Gov´t Mule, nur bedingt in eine Schublade legen lassen. Das Spektrum reicht von Rock mit durchaus progressiven Ansätzen, bis Soul, Reggae und Blues. Dazu noch eine zweite Doppel-LP mit Neueinspielungen der Songs und einer Riege von Gastsängern (Dr. John, Elvis Costello etc.). Man muß nicht auf einzelne Titel eingehen, aber man kann: Bring on the music, Captured, Funny little tragedy..... Episch, getragen, punkrockig.... In einem Wort: abwechslungsreich. Und die Glanztat ganz zum Schluß. Seite 4, letzter Titel: When the world gets small, Gesang: Steve Winwood. Immer noch eine der besten Stimmen der Musikwelt. Einziger Kritikpunkt meinerseits wäre die m.E. nicht immer geglückte Auswahl der Gastsänger. Manche Stimmen passen nur bedingt zum ausgewähltem Titel und müssen sich dann auch noch am Original Warren Haynes messen lassen.
Aber man muß die zweite Doppel-LP wohl auch als Zugabe der Band verstehen.
Noch ein Wort zum Produkt als solchem. Zwei Doppel-Alben, 2x schwarzes, 2x rotes Vinyl. Gute, aber keine überragende Pressung.
2x Klappcover im extra Pappschuber. Der Gesamtpreis von 20,99 Euro ist geradezu unglaublich. Also unglaublich günstig, um das klarzustellen.
Die Lieferung durch JPC erfolgte, wie gewohnt sehr schnell, zuverlässig und versandkostenfrei.
