Das Debüt wieder auf Vinyl

»Düster, verführerisch, betörend und zutiefst cineastisch«, lautet eine Beschreibung von »Felt Mountain«, dem Debüt von Goldfrapp. 2022 legt das britische Synthpop- und Electroclash-Duo, bestehend aus Namensgeberin Alison Goldfrapp und Will Gregory, das Album noch einmal auf Vinyl auf.

»Felt Mountain« erschien ursprünglich am 11. September 2000 beim Independent-Label Mute Records. Es wird dem Genre Trip-Hop zugeordnet, obwohl die Einflüsse auf dem Album deutlich vielseitiger sind, vom Pop der 1960er-Jahre über Cabaret und Folk bis hin zu Electronica. Die Songtexte wurden von Alison Goldfrapp geschrieben und sind abstrakte, obsessive Geschichten, die von Filmen und ihrer Kindheit inspiriert sind. Das Album wurde zusammen mit zahlreichen Gastmusikern aufgenommen, darunter Adrian Utley von Portishead, Nick Batt, John Parish, Alexander Bălănescu und viele mehr.

Mit den Songs »Lovely Head«, »Human«, »Utopia« und »Pilots« erschienen vier Singles. Allein in Großbritannien verkaufte sich »Felt Mountain« über 250.000 Mal. Die beste Chartsplatzierung erreichte es in Deutschland mit Platz 38. Außerdem war das Album für den britischen Mercury Prize nominiert.

Das Reissue ist erhältlich als goldene Vinyl im Gatefold Sleeve mit Booklet. LP und CD und enthält neue Sleeve Notes von Lior Philips, sowie Fotografien von Joe Dilworth und Anna Fox.
