1978 erschien mit »Dawn Of The Dead« (dt. »Zombie«) der Nachfolger zu George A. Romeros damals 10 Jahre altem Klassiker »Night Of The Living Dead«. Filmtechnisch sind Romeros Werke seither Klassiker, aber auch die Soundtracks genießen Kultstatus.
Für »Dawn Of The Dead« arbeitete Romero erstmals mit dem italienischen Komponisten Claudio Simonetti und dessen Projekt Goblin zusammen. Goblin machten sich bereits in den Jahren zuvor einen ausgezeichneten Namen, als sie die Soundtracks für z.B. »Profondo Rosso« und »Suspiria« schrieben.
