Mit »Valley Of Rain« veröffentlichten Giant Sand vor 33 Jahren ihr Debütalbum. 2018 kehren die US-Rocker an diesen magischen Ort zurück, mit »Giant Sand: Returns To Valley Of Rain«.
Wie der Name bereits andeutet, spielten Howe Gelb und sein Kollektiv alle Songs dafür noch einmal neu ein, allerdings mit neuer Technik und deutlich verbessertem Sound, zu dem unter anderem ein Fender 30 Röhrenverstärker beitrug.
So gibt es Hits wie »Valley Of Rain« oder »Death, Dying & Channel 5« jetzt in neuem Gewand.
An der Neuaufzeichnung der Platte war neben Frontmann Gelb auch Schlagzeuger Winston Watson beteiligt, der schon am Original mitwirkte.
Der Giant-Sand-Klassiker neu eingespielt: »Returns To Valley Of Rain« zeigt, wie gut diese legendären Songs auch heute noch funktionieren.
»Valley of Rain« ist das Debütalbum von Giant Sand, das 1983 von Howe Gelb (Gesang, Gitarre) und Winston Watson (Schlagzeug), Tommy Larkins (Schlagzeug) und Scott Garber (Bass) aufgenommen und schließlich 1985 veröffentlicht wurde.
Diese neue Neuaufnahme des ersten Albums klingt jetzt so, wie es hätte klingen sollen.
