Giant Sand veröffentlichten »proVISIONS« ursprünglich 2008. Dabei wirkten Howe Gelbs Lieblinge Neko Case, Isobel Campbell und M Ward mit. »The Desperate Kingdom Of Love« ist ein Cover aus der Feder von Freundin PJ Harvey.

Aufgenommen zum Teil in Tucson, zum Teil in Dänemark, ist es eine »Anreihung von Peyote Rock, Dämmer Balladen, Space Cowboy Soundtracks und unheimlicher Nebengleise abseits ausgetretener Pfade, auf Augenhöhe mit den besten Arbeiten der Band« (Pitchfork).
