1968 veröffentlichte Beatles-Leadgitarrist George Harrison »Wonderwall Music« - den Soundtrack zum gleichnamigen Kunstfilm. Das Album ist die erste Solo-Platte eines Beatles Mitglieds und enthält überwiegend Stücke, die von der Musik Indiens inspiriert sind. Weitere seiner Platten sind das soulinspirierte Album »Extra Texture (Read All About It)« von 1975, das eher experimentelle »Electronic Sound« sowie die dreifach LP »All Things Must Pass« bis hin zum Charterfolg »Living In The Material World« und das wahrscheinlich eher unbekanntere Album »Dark Horse«.
Die Box »The Apple Years« bringt diese insgesamt 6 vielseitigen Alben, allesamt remastert, nochmal zusammen in einem Set, und enthält neben einer DVD zusätzlich ein gebundenes Begleitbuch. Alle Alben wurden von Dhani Harrison und Paul Hicks remastert und erscheinen hochwertig verpackt sowie mit neu überarbeiteten Kommentaren von Kevin Howlett (ausgenommen »All Things Must Pass« und »Living In The Material World«). Die zugehörige DVD enthält bisher unveröffentlichtes Videomaterial, das gewissenhaft von Olivia Harrison durchgesehen wurde wie auch neue Fotos, die bisher nicht an die Öffentlichkeit gelangt sind.
