Dieses von Jerry Wexler produzierte und ursprünglich 1978 bei Warners Brothers veröffentlichte Meisterwerk fand damals nur wenig Beifall. Etta James ist hier in verblüffender stimmlicher Verfassung, zu hören ist eine Zusammenstellung großartigen Materials, wobei James ihre gewaltigen interpretativen Fähigkeiten voll entfalten kann.
Die Band, zu der sich die Creme der Ende der Siebzigerjahre in Los Angeles angesagtesten Session-Musiker versammelte (Cornell Dupree, Jeff Porcaro, Chuck Rainey, Plas Johnson, Jim Horn), spielt schlicht und gefühlvoll; das Ergebnis ist ein moderner R&B Klassiker. Die Platte ist voller Highlights, aber besondere Aufmerksamkeit sollte man James' Interpretationen von »Only Women Bleed« und »Take It to the Limit«, ursprünglich einem Stück der Eagles, schenken.
